The Buzz Bar, Located @ 546 E Larned in Downtown Detroit, is the new home for the best music in Detroit. We offer music 7 nights a week and every night are open til 2am. Our kitchen specializes in pizza, along with a full menu of paninis, subs, calzones, appetizers, soups and salads. We also are a coffeehouse featuring a European style of coffee, not the fast food Starbuck style we Americans are so used to.
Music is central to Buzz. The legitimate stepchild of the now defunct Music Menu, Brothers Glenn and Gordy Novak joined with bartender Adam Laurie (Agave, The Majestic, Dick o'Dows) to bring the best, most talented musicians from all over Detroit under one roof. We stress quality over genre and offer everything from Funk, Jazz and Latin Jazz, Rock, Folk, Blues, House, Techno, Breakbeat, u name it. If its good music u can hear it at Buzz. U may not know the name on the marquee, but everytime u walk trough our doors ur will b treated to exceptional music.
We open for lunch mon-fri and currently offer an All-U-Can-Eat Pizza Buffet for $6.99, which includes an ever changing variety of pizza along with salad and bread sticks. The kitchen is open til midnight sun-thurs and til 1a fri and sat.
Buzz is an intimate space that holds 70ppl in the first floor dinning room, where we keep the turntables for DJ events, and an additonal 50ppl on the second floor, where our stage is located.
We don't aim to b the latest, greatest trend to land amongst the bevy of new bars in the city. We are forward thinkers always looking to break the mold, and not to follow but lead the way through the mediocraty of modernity. To provide a warm, good time vibe that is founded on the principals of Quality, Good Music, Community and Joy. If its music, food, booze, coffee, urbanity, vibin', watchin the game, meeting new people, or exploring the amazing place that is Detroit, Buzz has got it for ya. What's ur Buzz all about?

| Trey Anastaio @ Buzz |
| Aug 23, 2006 |
| When Trey Anastasio recently opened for Tom Petty @ Pine Knob, We @ The Buzz Bar had a little inside action on the show.
Skeeto Valdez, drummer from The Brothers Groove, was recently on tour with Trey and played drums on his most recent record. So Skeeto hooked us up with Tony Smith, Trey's bassist the night prior to the show, and set us up with tix and passes for the gig.
While back stage, had a special moment when Stevie Nicks popped up outta one of the dressing rooms with curlers in her hair. Shes Short!
After the show was over and I found my pants (dont ask), Trey's entire band made the long treck down I-75 to The Buzz Bar. Trey himself didn't make it down, he had some "bidness" to take care of, but the rest of the ladies and fellas got down with The Brothers Groove and burned the floorboads off the stage. It was SMOKIN!
Great days in the D, great music all around, come check it out and get down with Detroit's #1 place for Live Music.

| Craziest Sunday Yet |
| Jul 30, 2006 |
| Sunday July 30th is a day to remember for The Buzz Bar and all those who came thru. Auxetic started the day off @ 3:00 with SunDayBeats, an afternoon of house music, cocktails, and sweet sweet air conditioning. Jennifer Xerri and em-j Dj'd all day long and a massive crowd came thru to eat, drink and dance. Thats when it got tricky...
We also do a sunday acoustic night hosted by Audra Kubat and Blair titled Bittersweet Coffeehouse. Now, house music and acoustic americana folk might not seem like a natural fit, and they really aren't. However, first came the upright bass playing along w DJ Space Ghost, then blair got on the mic and put some funkin vocals to it. Then Adam added some guitar to the mix. Blair starts into The Talking Heads "Psycho Killer" and everybody follows along, and the DJ fades out, and boom!, the night smoothly moves from house to acoustic music as if the whole thing was orchestrated.
Only @ Buzz.... |

| Recent Amazing Stuff @ Buzz |
| Jul 21, 2006 |
| Last week had some mad musicians in the crowd. Tueday night after their gig opening for The Brand New Heavies, VAN HUNT and his band came through and got down! Van said that after this tour is done he plans to spend some extended time in The D to record and see what our music scene is all about first hand.
The very next night after opening for Jodie Wattley at Chene Park, Fusion pioneer Jeff Lorbert sat in with The Brothers Groove. Jeff is credited as being one of the first musicians to extend the reaches of modern jazz. Hip-Hop has frequently sampled Jeff's music, most prominently Notorious B.I.G and Snoop Dogg.
This shit isn't cool because we've got celebs at the bar, its cool because they're phenomenal musicians and thats something we take a lot of pride in at Buzz. Bringing the best of Detroit Music and beyond to the ears of our appreciative, music-loving city. Bzzzzzzzzzz.............. |
