This four-piece metro-detroit Indie-Rock / Hip hop group have crept into the ears of millions of unsuspecting listeners by having their songs played in television commercials, movie trailers, major network tv shows, radio ads, and independent films. The groups diverse appeal stems from their unique sound - roots of traditional hip-hop, served up with dirty guitar rhythms, melodic bass lines, pulse-pounding beats, and conscious lyrics. Their sly, witty sense and ability to write conceptual songs that are as humorous as they are serious have won over all types of music lovers.
Already tracks have been heard in radio commercials (Pontiac Vibe), television shows (CW50's One Tree Hill, Lifetime Television's Missing, A&E's Sons of Hollywood), television commercials (Quiznos - in 2005 and 2007), theme songs (E! Entertainment Networks "101 favorite stars way back when" 2007) and showing up in independent films (Ping Pong Playa, the Prospects MX, Mo!) and movie trailers (the Last Kiss, dreamworks 2006). It's no wonder why OK Consumer has been named "One of the years most anticipated albums" (Indulgence Magazine).
| CPR lands on Soundtrack! |
| Sep 9, 2008 |
| The Cobalt Party Revolution track, Who Wants to Party has landed on the soundtrack for the film, Ping Pong Playa, starring Jimmy Tsai and Roger Fan and directed by Jessica Yu. The song is featured predominantly in the movie as well as in the trailer (see the vid on youtube, CPR comes in at :46 sec). The film hits select markets on September 5th with a nationwide release shortly thereafter. The soundtrack will be released via Lakeshore Records September 16th, 2008. (pre-orders available at Amazon). We are really excited about this opportunity; for one, the movie actually looks good, and two; Lakeshore Records have released several successful soundtracks (such as Napoleon Dynamite, The Last Kiss and Superbad).
Synopsis: A young Chinese-American man who presents himself with a streetwise, ghetto swagger and dreams of a career as a basketball star, but he finds his real gift as a ping-pong player and coach, leading an odd squad of students to a local championship. |

| CPR's 'Not Lacking Any Meat' |
| Mar 14, 2007 |
| Apparently lightning can strike twice. A week after E! Entertainment Television began using The Cobalt Party Revolution's amped-up version of "Keep Your Receipt" as the theme song for their 5-part series "101 Favorite Stars From Wayback When", the Detroit indie/hiphop foursome landed yet another song in the now somewhat controversial "Garlic Bread Prime Rib Sub" Quiznos commercial featuring a "real woman" who needs her meat.
The new Quizno's commercial is showing across North America right now on all major networks. Check it out at their myspace page: www.myspace.com/cobaltpartyrevolution.
You can also download the the song at CPR's myspace page.
This is the second time lightning struck for these suburban emcees because the same song was also used in the Movie Trailer for the DreamWorks film, The Last Kiss with Zach Braff several months ago. And this is the second time the Cobalt Party Revolution's music was used in a quiznos commercial.
The band's song "Hiphop Don't Stop" from their Medea Records debut, OK CONSUMER, was used in one last year. (as well as a Pontiac Vibe commercial, a One Tree Hill episode, a motocross DVD titled The Prospects (gk films 2006), and the upcoming indie flick MO! featuring Erik Per Sullivan (aka Dewey from Malcolm in the Middle) Another point for Whiteboy hiphop! |
